Groupe Consultatif has published a brochure entitled the Role of the Actuary under Solvency II, Raising the bar on insurance technical expertise.

In conjunction with the IAA meetings in The Hague in May, there will be a joint Groupe Consultatif/IAA Education Seminar on the theme ‘Educating Actuarial Professionals for the Future’ on 26/27 May. The final programme is available here, with online registration open here.

Groupe Consultatif produced a paper comparing the regulatory approach in insurance and banking in the context of Solvency II.

The paper sets out that risk‐based financial supervision is different for Banking and Insurance. Business models are different, risks are different and thus regulatory measures are also different. But this does not mean that systems cannot learn from each other.
